Discussions stay alongside the pictures in Photon, a Reddit reader you use without an account or ads. You find subreddits, Reddit's topic forums, with authors, scores and comments intact. Community follows stay in your browser. Tracking uses a random identifier that changes every 30 days.

Another reader for Reddit
Photon displays Reddit posts with a simpler layout. You reach a forum, post or profile by replacing reddit.com with photon-reddit.com in its address.
Its code is free software, meaning you can inspect and modify it, under the GPL version 3 license on GitHub. The service has used anonymous reading since its May 2026 recovery. Connecting a Reddit account was removed at that point.
Forums, sorting and follows
Opening a forum or post
You type the subreddit name into the top bar or use its modified address. Posts show their title, author, age, score and comment count. NSFW means not safe for work and marks adult content. Moderator verification labels remain visible.
Videos play in the page and comments open beneath the post. You can read replies, but voting and writing require returning to Reddit with your account.

Your own home feed
You follow communities in Photon to bring them together on the home page. The list stays in the browser you use. On another device, you build your follows again.
The interface is in English. Photon has no community directory or community rankings: a site such as NSFWSubs helps you find names when you have no list yet.
Free reading without ads
Photon asks for no payment. The reader, settings and local community follows are free, without ads or commercial links.

Tracking settings
Photon measures visits with a random identifier unrelated to an account or IP address. The recorded address stops at the subreddit name and does not identify the post you opened.
Its Incognito Mode setting replaces that address with /i and clears the visit's referrer. This is a Photon setting separate from your browser's private mode. Separate statistics also cover settings, browser features and the number of posts viewed, without linking them to that identifier.

Reading the replies beneath a photo is part of Reddit's appeal. Photon fits that habit when you want the conversation without opening an account. You follow your usual communities to make a personal home feed, entirely free.
ReddClips focuses on one video filling the screen at a time. You keep Photon when the title, author and discussion matter as much as the media. To participate, the Reddit link takes you back to the same post.
Photon keeps conversations readable and pictures in context, with three out of five for free reading. You get an ad-free view, although participation is closed and the service relies on one developer and the access Reddit leaves available.
